Here’s what’s new in FoxClocks 2:
- Keep up-to-date: automatic time zone database updates
- Behind a firewall? update automatically from your LAN
- Choose the right time zone more easily: new Zone Picker
- Show your clocks in the statusbar/toolbar, just in a tooltip (mouseover), or both
- Style your clocks: bold, italic, etc
- Set your clocks to change colour: e.g. make your clocks green from 9 to 5 local time
- Sort your clocks by name or local time
- Move your FoxClocks settings between computers
Let us know what you think.
Yes, FoxClocks doesn’t work in Firefox 4.0b1. It _will_ work for the final non-beta, but perhaps not before then.
Hi!
The time of Germany is wrong! It is shown as one hour later than in reality. What is the problem?
M.
Using this in Tb and it’s great – lovely work! Thanks heaps!
Re: tz database 2010i
Outdated/missing info for Vietnam:
Hanoi (capital city) not shown
Saigon is now called Ho Chi Minh City (largest city in Vietnam)
Regarding missing cities, this FAQ is relevant:
http://www.stemhaus.com/firefox/foxclocks/news/foxclocks-faq/#FAQ-nocity
Having said that, I should add Hanoi, since it’s the capital – thanks for letting me know.
Apparently Ho Chi Minh is still commonly called Saigon…
This is a really good and helpful tool. Thanks a million!
Works well with Firefox 3.6.6.
Hope to see the release for Firefox 4.0 soon.
Dear Andy,
Thanks for a great add-on.
Just wanted to mention that the biggest city of Vietnam no longer is called Saigon, these days it´s called Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC).
Thanks
Stig
Hi!
I have downloaded this just now: thanks for this software: I work on the net and hence, had needed such a software for time verification in a few other countries for posting my articles accordingly. It would be of real help to me. Thanks again.
Has potential but when I set up the Australian Mainland capital cities (GMT + 8) the times all display at least one day out of sync??
Downloaded/Installed FoxClocks 2.6.18 on Firefox 3.6.8. I cannot find/see FoxClocks anywhere on my screen
perhaps it works only if one donates, but it should be free, right?
There is no custom format selections, nor custom format tags, for specifying day-of-the-week. Any ideas?
FOXCLOCKS will not display on status bar anymore. Can it be fixed please.
Bloody handy add-on. Saves a lot of brain work.
I’ve noticed that if using the 24hr format, if the time is earlier than 10am it will not have the leading “0″ on it. e.g.- 845 instead of 0845.
Any chance of a fix for this?
A report has been marvellous, appreciate berbagi!
It worked fine till few days ago when first dissappear from bar, then when I tried to look into add-ons if enabled it gave a script error causing Mozilla Firefox (v. 3.6.8) not responding. After I reinstalled it and worked ok for about one day, I had the same issue.
Any idea? Tks
Since last week the time for Cairo is incorrect — it shows one hour later than it really is. Thanks for taking care of this.
Your keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+Q) is in conflict with Thunderbird shortcut for “Paste as Quotation”. It used to be Ctrl+Shift+V until Thunderbird 3.1, where is changed to Ctrl+Shift+Q.
Would you consider adding a tool to Foxclocks to input any time of any zone and output the time on your chosen time zone? E.g. if I am attending an online event on Wednesday, September 1st at 9:00pm Eastern output the time in GMT.
This would be a really useful addition to Foxclocks as at the moment I have to go to a website to do this. I’d rather just open up Foxclocks and from the “Tools” menu select “Time Zone Converter”.
:-)
Using latest FoxClocks on stable Firefox release.
If I rename a city name (Washington, DC –> DC), sometimes the country flag disappears.
Foxclocks worked until I notice I can’t see it anymore in my bottom screen, can anyone help me how to fix this? I loved this addon, I hope anyone can help me on what to do. Thank you.
Hi Andy – the timezone for Egypt (and, I believe, some other North African and Middle Eastern countries) is incorrect, because Fox Clocks does not take account of the fact that many countries go back to standard time during Ramadan.
I believe the correct times for Egypt for 2010 are as follows:
DST starts Friday, 30 April 2010, 01:00:00 (+3 hours EEST)
DST ends Tuesday, 10 August 2010, 23:00:00 (+2 hours EET)
DST starts Friday, 10 September 2010, 01:00:00 (+3 hours EEST)
DST ends Thursday, 30 September 2010, 23:00:00 (+2 hours EET)
The Foxclocks time for Egypt is wrong: 1h ahead of real local time. Obviously there is no light saving time any more.
FOXCLOCKS will not display on status bar anymore. Can it be fixed please?
I have the same problem, foxclocks doesn’t work for me either.
I’m using this as a replacement for the systray so I can see the time when on the T’Interweb so I only use the one clock. Is it possible to remove the “UK:” from in front of the time?
TIA
Elmer
Hi,
This is a great add-on to Firefox.
Have you considered adding support for non-geographic time such as Sideral Time (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sidereal_time). This is incredibly useful to the astronomy community.
Once again, thanks for producing a great add-on.
Martin
Is there WIP for firefox 4? Perhaps a beta or alpha version?
Not yet, but Fx 4 will definitely be supported when it’s live…
This is a really useful add-on – I use it all the time.
I have noticed, however that the time for Fiji is incorrect – it is not adding DST which started recently.
Yes Fiji is incorrect – there’s a data update coming out soon.
New clock
Whose clock?
Firefox’s clock!
Firefox’s foxclocks
tick and tock on PC boxes
click to update firefox foxclocks
click ‘update foxclocks’ box on firefox
firefox’s clicked ‘update foxclocks’ box
updates firefox’s foxclock
updated firefox foxclock ticktocks
It is really very sad that Foxclocks doesn’t get developed anymore…
thousands and thousands of users changed to FF4 because it works much faster than the old FF 3.6, and theres a very good compatibility on the most helpful extensions with upcoming betas.
Don’t worry – FoxClocks will support Firefox 4 before it’s out of beta.
This is a convenient little add-on. It saves me time rather than going through the windows clock. Thanks!
Sure value Foxclocks, however I also don’t play games. If I have to pay, OK.. so be it- and I gladly will- yet calling such a DONATION doesn’t sit well with me as a businessman.
Worst yet, Foxclocks doesn’t work/show with updated FIREFOX 4 BETA giving me a lot of grieve before finding out.
Kudos to Foxclocks, but I’m disgusted for being put through so much trouble just to find out.

Can there be an option to have display placement for specific position in status bar, just like in case of ReminderFox?
my clock was all advanced so i just uninstalled it!! hope it will give me the right time when i install it again.
Hi,
Its time you update the foxclocks for firefox 4b7
Support for Firefox 4b is coming soon!
There’s a hidden interface to control the position of the clocks/icon in the statusbar: change the param ‘foxclocks.clock.position.specific.hidden’ to ‘false’ in the special URL about:config and reopen the options window.
‘my clock was all advanced so i just uninstalled it!! hope it will give me the right time when i install it again.’
See this FAQ: http://www.stemhaus.com/firefox/foxclocks/news/foxclocks-faq/#FAQ-wrongtime
Thanks, for the prompt reply.
I would be nice if you do not keep that preference hidden.
In response to Karl:
I don’t understand your post. FoxClocks asks for a donation, but you don’t have to pay. Simple as that. (More than 99% of people don’t pay.) FoxClocks is open source software – you can use it, modify its source code and even redistribute modified code (within the limits of the GPL), all for no charge.
It almost sounds like you think that if you don’t pay the donation, it won’t work. That’s not correct, although as you point out, FoxClocks doesn’t support Firefox 4 beta. This is because it’s true beta software (not production-ready; only beta testers are expected to be using it), and because Firefox 4b7 is the first ‘feature-frozen’ version of Firefox 4; see http://blog.mozilla.com/addons/2010/11/11/making-add-on-compatible-firefox-4/ for more details. The supported versions of Firefox are clearly listed on the install page at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1117/
(‘Works with Firefox 1.5 – 3.6.*’)
Fiji has instituted daylight saving again this year – can the database be updated to reflect this?
How DST works ? Will it support DST ?
Added the Foxclock add in.
Installed it.
Enabled it. Firefox hangs.
I have to crash Firefox, and start over.
Fox clock never appears in my Tools menu.
I like this Choose the right time zone more easily: new Zone Picker!
I adore foxclocks. Will it ever be made for Chrome? Please?
Firefox 3.6.12
Foxclocks 2.6.18 does not appear in tools menu or status bar and there
is no icon in the customize toolbar dialog, how to fix?
