FoxClocks 2
FoxClocks 2 is now available for download at addons.mozilla.org. Feature requests, bug reports and general gossip are very welcome in the comments, but if you’re having a problem, please check the FoxClocks FAQ and search the comments below for a solution before posting. Thanks!
Here’s what’s new in FoxClocks 2:
- Keep up-to-date: automatic time zone database updates
- Behind a firewall? update automatically from your LAN
- Choose the right time zone more easily: new Zone Picker
- Show your clocks in the statusbar/toolbar, just in a tooltip (mouseover), or both
- Style your clocks: bold, italic, etc
- Set your clocks to change colour: e.g. make your clocks green from 9 to 5 local time
- Sort your clocks by name or local time
- Move your FoxClocks settings between computers
Let us know what you think.
It pics up time from system clock rather it should update from a website or something; everytime firefox starts or in couple of days….
Love it!
It is the best Firefox add-on. But the newer version does not update the time by itself. The earlier version of the FoxClocks used to pick up the time by itself once the computer or the browser is restarted.
Now every time I restart my Computer or the browser itself. Then I have to select the different time zones again. It does not save those selections. This happened after I updated to the latest version.
Please Help… !!!
I have been using Foxclocks for a long long time now.. I love the product..
However, I have to agree with Fahad. (2010-May-11 at 02:37)
The latest version which my thunderbird updated itself with shows the following characteristics
a) Does not Remember the Settings. (I have gone thru the FAQ, et all)
b) Does not Import Settings. (which has been working for me all the time)
Hope someone responsible reads this.
continuation of update from 2010-May-11 at 03:44…
Found that the issue was already addressed in version 2.6.18 (experimental).
How about FoxClocks for Safari browser on Mac?
Hi Andy,
Thanks for FoxClocks 2.6.17 was released. But locale files were not updated in BabelZilla, so don’t use new feature “Related Day” in non en locales from AMO.
Please update locale files for BabelZilla…
Hi Andy,
Thanks for uploading new version’s locale files to BabelZilla.
I’ve updated and released locale files NOW.
Regards,
I had a previous verision of FoxClocks all set up for the areas of the world that I had an interest in and with the upgrade, I have to list them all over again. No more upgrades for me.
I AM disappointed.
I have the same problem as Fahad and Dileep: unfortunately the latest version (2.6.17) does NOT keep the watchlist any more. Never had a problem with any earlier version. Would it be possible to fix this, please? Thanks.
The latest official version of FoxClocks (2.6.17) is broken in Thunderbird and Firefox 2. I’ve submitted a new version for approval to addons.mozilla.org; in the meantime, the new install file (xpi) is at
http://www.stemhaus.com/tmp/foxclocks-2.6.18-fx+tb+sb+sm_preview.xpi
(or you can just go to http://www.stemhaus.com/tmp for a directory listing). This should fix your issues.
I’ve just installed v 2.6.18. No problems with that one. Brilliant. Thank you, Andy!
I love it. All the info I need and so compact !
Hi ho
Have you hooked up around the world from Gold Coast Queensland Australia, a touch of the button and I can see if you are up with the birds or out with the Owls.Have been using this add-on for a few years now I’d be lost without it.
Great stuff Guys
Regards
Ray
Flawless, without compare or equal, cheers.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I’m living in Israel and we have now summertime (+3 hrs from GMT)
The time is now here 16:10 and your clock gives 17:10.
Cordially,
Moshe
Best add-on ever. Not a problem so far; what is more, it has helped me to always be on time.
Keep up the fine work!
Foxclocks is a great add-on. Love it. Have been using it since I started on firefox. :)
Very good. Great add-on.
Folks – this is an indispensible tool for me. Couple of questions – suggestions:
- meeting planner – would be easy to set a pick list of cities, and the when the home city time is set all the others display. Now, I do the math in my head… Timeanddate.com has a feature like this – why not put it in FoxClocks!
- do you support other browsers – like Safari?
Thanks – keep up the great work!
Allen
Been using it for quite awhile now, it’s totally awesome !
I’ve just started using FoxClocks but I’m noticing the listing in my browser window doesn’t show am or pm so I’m having to click on the country to confirm all the time for countries that I’m not that familiar with- anyone have a solution for how I can get this to show am/pm in my info browser window?
I’ve found I’m using a different app more because it shows this detail.
Thanks,
Allan
thanks for the add.
I don’t see San Francisco. Did I miss something ?
I live in Hawaii.
The area does not use (and has no interest in) daylight savings time.
Your system allows that it does not have daylight savings time.
With latest update, though, it flashes between standard time and daylight savings.
This only has happened since the latest update.
Hopefully, the next update will get rid of it.
(Running Ubuntu 10.04)
I’m using
“FoxClocks 2.6.18″ and San Francisco is not there….
Sorry. I know I can use an other place, but I just let you know.
Thanks for your answer !
Great add on, really enjoy seeing the different times around the world.
Many thanks.

Hi,
I am facing a trouble while installing Foxclocks. I just love this FF add-on. I have got Windows7 with FF3.6.3 on my machine.
It gives me an error code stating
Firefox could not install the file at
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/downloads/latest/1117/addon-1117-latest.xpi?src=addondetail
because: Unexpected installation error
Review the Error Console log for more details.
-203.
What should I do????????????? Plz help me out.
Thanks guys.
Love it. Thank You. It is one of the many things that makes Firefox the best browser on the planet.
I’m very pleased to use your application… but I would like to ask if it is possible to make a kind of alarm working with Foxclock. Suppose that if I need to remember a specific date in the future it could be very useful to tell Foxclock for a remind about it, maybe the day before or some time in advance….
I hope it could be integrate in futures versions of Firefox.
My best regards Carlos
echoing what @AllanMale said –
Enable a mode where I can pick a local time and see what *would* be the time in all the other countries.
Big one for me is doing the conversion to GMT for everyone!
Also when entering the “custom color” I enter it in my own time but I don’t really know the other time zone’s local time. ( alternative selection )
Hi,
I just installed Fox clocks and I can not seem to get the 24 hour clock to stay activated.
I select 24 hour time, click on apply and ok but the time format does not switch from 12 hour
time to 24 hour time.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
I have version 2.6.18 of Fox Clocks installed on XP pro with Firefox 3.6.3
Thanks
Dave
One of the best utilities I have ever come across! It beats any stand-alone clock utility I have seen hands down. I would use Firefox just for this if nothing else.
Love it…best ever Clock…Thanks

1) is on the todo list (but don’t hold your breath);
2) isn’t, I’m afraid.
Andy
Regarding support for Sunbird 1.0b: it looks like Sunbird is end-of-life, with the Lightning add-on for Thunderbird taking over, so I’m afraid FoxClocks isn’t going to support Sunbird beyond version 0.9.
Andy
I have to reset the “Location Properties” for each time zone every time Firefox restarts. Specifically, I have to choose the font color and options such as underline/bold/italic/flag etc. For some reason, setting the Location Properties do not “hold” through a restart. It would be nice if this was fixed! Otherwise, I’ve been using FC for about two-three years (more?) now and find it indispensable.
This is an awesome add-on and I love it, but I recently moved over to chrome and was wondering if you had plans to develop it for the chrome extensions or not? I look forward to hearing about any future plans, and again, good job; I love this add-on.
HI,
I did a review of this addon here: http://www.binaryturf.com/foxclocks-for-firefox/
However when I looked for a Tel Aviv of Israel I couldn’t find it in the database. How do I add it?
Thanks
Anil
For some reason the Canadian Flags wont display correctly, can anyone help me with this?
Cairo time is not correct according to http://timeanddate.com/worldclock/results.html?query=cairo
the time dose not match with foxclocks.. please urgently fix it.
Roseville in united states not listed in Foxclocks, I even tried the latest version I can’t find it.
The Irish flag is wrong in the German version of foxclocks. There`s some other flag in there, looks swedish but sure as hell aint Irish! Get it sorted.
Firefox seems to have glitched onme. Download promoted my NZ time to 3.43 AM when it is 8.43 PM the day before….HOW can I fix ?
I have hunted through and it does not show me the ‘windows’ that are in the Q & A framework.
Its not compatible with TBird 3.1. and won’t install. Where can an updated version be downloaded?
John,
What version of FoxClocks do you use?
FoxClocks 2.6.18 works with TB 3.1.
https://addons.mozilla.org/thunderbird/addon/1117/
FoxClocks 2.6.18 works for me on TB 3.1 (and Fx 3.6).
Is it possible to have a some way to see a “date difference” in format string?
Something like:
Cairo 1:35 tomorrow
or
Munich 19:48 yesterday
Possible, instead words sympols (like ? for tomorrow and ? for yesterday) will be more useful – don’t know yet.
I mean arrow unicode charecters in previous comment – up-down, or left-right (depend on LTR settings). Or just to set a possibility to set user pictire, like it done for flags today, and provide a couple signs like arrows, or sun/moon.
Foxclocks is great, but I think it needs some love to work with Firefox 4.0b1. The clocks I had configured on the status bar disappeared when I updated Firefox from 3.6.6. I have Foxclocks enabled on 4.0b1 using the Add-on Compatibility Reporter.
In the latest English version of FoxClocks you can choose to show today/tomorrow or +1/-1 by using a custom format.
