FoxClocks 2
FoxClocks 2 is now available for download at addons.mozilla.org. Feature requests, bug reports and general gossip are very welcome in the comments, but if you’re having a problem, please check the FoxClocks FAQ and search the comments below for a solution before posting. Thanks!
Here’s what’s new in FoxClocks 2:
- Keep up-to-date: automatic time zone database updates
- Behind a firewall? update automatically from your LAN
- Choose the right time zone more easily: new Zone Picker
- Show your clocks in the statusbar/toolbar, just in a tooltip (mouseover), or both
- Style your clocks: bold, italic, etc
- Set your clocks to change colour: e.g. make your clocks green from 9 to 5 local time
- Sort your clocks by name or local time
- Move your FoxClocks settings between computers
Let us know what you think.
Clock will not show correct time- it’s an hour advanced- but my OS has the correct time. I spent 20 minutes fiddling and checking the site and I finally gave up. Also, why does the display have to show a location? I know where I am- I just want to have the time available.
for those who need 24-hour format. go to location properties – display then insert in the “statusbar/toolbar clock tooltip” field something like this “:, , -
you can generate your custom format in options – time format, then copy it and paste into every locations properties
worked for me
oops. “something like this” is magically gone and it was my custom format string. but you probably got the idea, you’ve got to manually insert format string into every location’s properties
Love the addon, but am puzzled as to why I can not locate Seattle, and add as a city? Is it just me, or am I doing something wrong?
Was also wondering if I can have fox clocks as my main clock in the toolbar, as opposed to a window of firefox?
It doesnt work ! Time is not correct and I cant fix it after 30 minutes reading and searching. haizzz
For Seattle choose Los Angeles and Add As. Then google Seattle for the wikipedia page where the co-ordinates are.
What I’d like to know is how to get font colours back with the Camifox theme. Now they only display in black regardless of what is selected.
The theme problem is a FoxClocks bug, I’m afraid. Hopefully I’ll have it fixed for the next version.
Arizona does not use daylight savings and I have not been able to locate a place to turn it off so my clock is off by one hour.
Any idea when you’ll have a version that works with Firefox 3.6.2? I miss my foxclocks :(!
dear all , I want to say that tunisia time dont swich for summer time so it’s still time cet gmt +1
please fix this error
regards
I was very excited that this add-on allows you to highlight certain times, but then disappointed again when it
1. won’t add more than one time for a place
2. won’t discriminate between days.
Thus there is absolutely no way to fill in what my friend in Korea told me are good skype times:
“Weekdays: 7:30-8:30am, 4pm-6pm, 9pm-11pmish
Weekends: 7-9:30 Sat, 7-11 Sunday”
Foxclocks went in my mind from the most useful thing ever to useless :(
Foxclocks is very cool, but why will my pop up window only display 5 entries when I have twice that many on the watchlist
I installed Foxclocks to my portable Firefox, and got the English version. I think it’s great, so I also added it to my stationary Firefox at home. But there I get the Norwegian version of Foxclocks that does not enable me to change the flag that is displayed with a location. Why not?
Why should I change the flags? because I want an indication of CST even when it’s CDT, so I just choose e.g. Belize or Guatemala. But I wanted to display the US flag, because I get mails with offers “…valid to midnight CST” from US sources.
My current work around is to export the settings from the portable application, import them to the stationary application and then translate the place names where necessary.
How can I get the English version of Foxclocks to install when my computer has Norway as locale?
I cannot install the add-on… it says “Invalid hash” …
What should I do ?
Local Melbourne, Australia time is OK but Bangkok is incorrect by 1 hour
Hi, thank you for this great tool.
What I cannot find are the Canary Islands. They belong to Spain, are close to the NorthWest Coast of Africa, and have a different time zone than Spain, mostly 1 hour earlier than Spain, but, depending on sommer – or wintertime – even 1 hour different from Greenwich Time!
The Capital city of the islands is Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Thanks for adding!
Ull
They’re under Atlantic Ocean->Spain. Hmmm… Not actually the most obvious place, but you can use the Search feature to find them.
If FoxClocks is showing the wrong time, this FAQ should help:

Sounds like a temporary problem with Mozilla’s servers. I’d try again in a few hours (and you might want to restart your browser too…).
Ah! Interesting situation. FoxClocks contains about twenty language packs; Firefox (or Thunderbird etc) decides which one to use based on the browser’s locale.
Unfortunately not all the translations are 100% complete, and in the case that some part of the user interface isn’t available in the local language, FoxClocks hides it from view. That’s why you can’t change flag in Norwegian.
You can change which language pack Firefox looks for by modifying the Firefox parameter
general.useragent.locale
to en-GB or en-US in the special URL about:config (see http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config). However, you might find some other extensions switch to English too, and there may be other side-effects. You can always revert the change if it doesn’t suit you.
Thank you to Andy McDonald at FoxClocks for responding so quickly to my problem.
As he suggested it was a problem with WindowsXP and time zone readjustment.
Great addon highly recommended.
Again Thanks.
Ps. If visitors “Submit Comment” it will turn up in latest replies. No need to re-enter it another 2 times as I did.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I would like to thank you for this nice add-on application…
I just found that when I added my city Jerusalem, the assigned flag is Israel’s flag..
As you might know that Jerusalem according to united nation resolutions its an occupied area… therefore Could you please either remove the Israeli flag from this city or Add another Jerusalem with a Palestinian flag to be fear…
Thanks a lot in advance,
The program can not go on a 24-hour
Hi,
First of all, thanks for the nice addons.
Would it be possible to update to the latest timezone Db version as it fixes a lot of issues with countries that didn’t or modified their DST.
Alternatively, is it possible to update it by hand on our side ?
Thanks,
Manuel
Wrong timezone in Bangladesh. Foxclock say Bangladesh in +7, but they are +6. Could you please fix?
I had to re-install Foxclocks recently. As before, my cities from around the world aren’t remembered when Foxclocks starts up. Very frustrating.
How do you lock in the cities?
TIA
Taipei looks to be 1 hour ahead.
Hello,
I’d like to ask to check you about Cicago city.
When I installed this add-on in my firefox ver. 3.6.3 with Korean, The Cicago city is showing “???” saying “Cikigo”.
Would you check this?
Best regards,
valuable Add-on and very useful !
Just Fantastic!
Hi there, great app, I love it.
Could you add Houston to the list of USA cities?
Cheers
Excellent Utility. Keep up the good work.
Why can I display only five locations in the pop up window ?
Just wanted to say: your program is excellent!!
I absolutely love foxclocks. Since I play a MMO with people from all over, having the times for each of their zones (with nation flag for easy recall) makes planning events a breeze.
Good Job !!!
Absolutely the best Firefox add-on. I’d be lost without it.
Now make it perfect by adding lunar phases, that’d be ace!
Yo be ou say the stuff is free farmville gifts are also suppose to be free but it does not work
You can add a zone to the watchlist, and it stays on nicely. Once you close IT GOES. NEXT TIME YOU OPEN THUNDERBIRD, IT’S NOT THERE. You need to re-add it again. This is with Thunderbird version 2.0.0.18, with which it is meant to be compatible.
Brilliant addon I could not live without! Thank you very much!
I just installed v2.6.17. After installing it, none of my watchlist exist. I add them in and like TONY said above, they appear nicely, but after I exit Thunderbird and come back in again, they’re gone! Why doesn’t the watchlist stay saved?
Regarding settings not being saved:
This is an issue with FoxClocks in Thunderbird 2 and Firefox 2. If you’re able to upgrade to version 3, FoxClocks should be fine.
I’m working on a fix, but it may take a while to get out. In the meantime the previous version should work:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addons/versions/1117#version-2.5.46
Today’s update to 2.6.17 “lost” the name of India from my current settings, but I was able to re-choose it, and can see that now (oddly, it kept the flag while losing the name). Rinning Firefox 3.5.9 on WinXP (will have to try it on my Linux/Seamonkey setup ;-)
Nice quick view of times for colleagues literally around the globe.
TIA
Love FoxClocks!!! Love the name, as well! Never change it even if you make a version for “other” browsers… mentioning no names, Fox Marks.. Never had a problem with any version FoxClocks in any version of Firefox and every update has installed quickly and seamlessly. Can`t recommend it enough :-)
Hi,
since i Updated Foxclocks, my Firefox (2.0.0.20) forgets all the Foxclocks-settings after restart.
Is there a new bug?!?
Greetings,
Peter
Problems since recent auto update two days ago. Losing settings every time Thunderbird is closed.
Same here. Since the last update, every time Thunderbird closes, my watch list is wiped out. Would be best if this bug were fixed, however, a mechanism for saving the watch list would be helpful as well.
The time in Cairo is -1 hour now.
Hi ,
can you update your excellent addon for Sunbird 1.0b1 witch is the last release (and the latest official public release) ?

Thanks in advance
