FoxClocks 2
FoxClocks 2 is now available for download at addons.mozilla.org. Feature requests, bug reports and general gossip are very welcome in the comments, but if you’re having a problem, please check the FoxClocks FAQ and search the comments below for a solution before posting. Thanks!
Here’s what’s new in FoxClocks 2:
- Keep up-to-date: automatic time zone database updates
- Behind a firewall? update automatically from your LAN
- Choose the right time zone more easily: new Zone Picker
- Show your clocks in the statusbar/toolbar, just in a tooltip (mouseover), or both
- Style your clocks: bold, italic, etc
- Set your clocks to change colour: e.g. make your clocks green from 9 to 5 local time
- Sort your clocks by name or local time
- Move your FoxClocks settings between computers
Let us know what you think.
I enjoy the feature of having different time zones, that way I will call my clients without disturbing them in hours there are no convenient. Thank you
For me, FoxClocks is one of the most useful Firefox add-ons available! My wife travels extensively across multiple timezones, and FoxClocks makes keeping track of her ‘busy’ and ‘available’ times almost trivial. Thank you!
I love these clocks. I’m able to have all my important world times right on my browser. I always am on time!
As I live in Japan, and have dealings with America and the UK, FoxClocks is GREAT for keeping track of time in my browser.
The only problem I seem to have with FoxClocks is that even though I have both the US and UK times listed in the bottom left hand corner of my browser, scrolling over either of the time zones only brings up the UK flag and time. It might be a bug, it might be becuase of my Japanese OS. As it doesn’t affect FoxClocks from functioning, I am not that concerned.
Keep up the good work!
Great utility for use at work, I need to know the time in UK, Chicago, Hungary, Germany, Hong Kong and Mexico.
Hi
I also use at work as we have ofices on 3 continents
I think a nice addon feature would be weather in those locations – maybe just an icon + temperature.
I have an app on my mobile that does that
please make it happen :-)
BTW – Posted my previous comment at 10:36 GMT and the heading says 05:36 GMT
I don’t think it’s me ????
FoxClocks is very good, i am now waiting for an Add to my Safari on my Mac…
Really handy software app.
Great for knowing when to contact (or not) friends overseas!
Thanks for the kind words!
I’ve tried to respond to people’s issues by e-mail; most of them are covered in the FAQs.

I saw fox clock twice and I like it very much. I have it installed, but since I have an MacBook it is not working here. Is there maybe something I do wrong or is it just not working with the MacBook.
It would be nice if the capital city of Canada was included ?? It’s called Ottawa and it’s in the same time zone as Toronto (financial capital) Otherwise it’s a great addon to TB and Firefox. Thanks
Jack
I work with a lot of global datasets. Having UTC and other time zones always on the browser window is a big help. Thanks!
great i’m always on time :)
FoxClocks 2 works very nicely and I have used it both on my PC and Mac for quite a while. However I have noted with version updates that on restarting Firefox there is a window that opens which is mostly offscreen on the upper right which I can only really see the “OK?” button. I can’t enter my security password until I take care of it. If I use a feature of the OS X desktop I can bring it into view long enough to see it is just a window letting me know that FoxClock is now upgraded, but it is very frustrating to be asked to “ok” an offscreen and unreadable window. I noted this in previous version updates.
This is a very useful application though for me as I have friends around the globe.
A brilliant add-on found most useful wheh watching the recent US open.
Thanks
Another useful addon to this app would be a time calculator.
In other words what time will it be in location A when its xx:yy in location B.
There are a number of websites that do that which I use regularly
Absolutely Great to be in time
I like to use FoxClocks very much, and it is one of the 5 important Add-Ons for me.
But there is one part I miss:
is it possible to show the week-number of the year?
This would be very useful for me (and perhaps for other people too… ;-)
Thank You !

Is it me — or is 2.5.35 incompatble with FF 3.5.3?
I’m running FC under 3.5.3 and I set it to display 24 hour two digit. The AM/PM dropdown does not grey out, nor does the time switch to 24 hour.Time continues to be displayed as am/pm. In addition, the display sting adds the digits “21″ to the end for some reason. Browser restart is also no good for format reset. I like you app, but sounds like you have a few wrinkles in the new version
I’ve been using FoxClocks on several machines for many months (years?) now, but I recently wiped my machine, installed Windows 7, and then installed FF 3.5.3. Now, when I try and install FoxClocks, the Extension shows up and says that I need to restart Firefox, but after the restart, FoxClocks is not listed in the Extensions list. Nada.
I performed the same process on my laptop (Win 7, FF 3.5.3), and FoxClocks works fine, so it seems there is a specific issue on my desktop.
I’ve tried completely uninstalling FF, deleting the program files folder and the user data / profiles folder, but no luck. After reinstalling FF, same problem with FoxClocks not appearing.
Anyone else having this issue?
Update: It seems to be an issue with FF on my desktop machine. After trying to uninstall and reinstall FF, I can’t install any extensions. The extensions appear to install, but after restarting FF, they are not listed. Not sure what the issue is.
Update 2: Firefox without any extensions is a painful experience. Since I couldn’t get any extensions to install, I had to wipe my machine an reinstall Windows 7. Fortunately, Windows 7 installs very quickly, and there aren’t yet a thousand updates to apply afterwards, so I’m not back up and running with FF 3.53 and all of my extensions working, including FoxClocks! Yay!
Congratulations on your good work. It helps a lot to have the time in different parts of the planet. I write and many times call to different countries. Specially lately that I have been traveling a lot.
I will make a donation for Christmas. I will be better financially then.
Foxclocks in the status bar is brilliant. However, I’d love an option to disable the tooltip altogether.
quite liked this….but decided to uninstall after a while to save space…..
now having uninstalled it, the empty bar where the clocks were showing, in between the navigation bar and the bookmarks bar, appears every time i open firefox….
i have to close it by going to View > Toolbars > unclick “clox”….
i am using a mac…had no problems running the add-on…
any ideas how to make this go away?
my problem has resolved itself….
very decent add-on though…
Can’t do it without…. But how can we set the time format by hand like this: : ?
Good work, thanks
I live in Sydney, Australia.
It’s about 4 days the time has changed here. But my foxclocks icon in bottom left hand corner of my firefox still shows the same clock. (one hour difference).
I have even “check”ed and updated the clock via the options, but still have the problem.
Please help.
I think it’s a bug.
Best.
Practical
The best add on I have ever run across! 5 stars!
Question: I have 2 clocks displaying at all times in the tool bar. Can I make one of my clocks display in 24 hour format and my other display in 12 hour format at the same time? . When I change the format, both clocks change format. Please advise. Thanks.
How do I put the abbreviation for the day of the week? like ‘Mon’, ‘Tues’, ‘Wed’, ‘Thurs’, etc, etc, etc. I know that puts Monday, Tues, Wednesday, etc, etc, etc. But what about just ‘Mon’, ‘Tues’, etc. The proper PHP for it is but that doesn’t seem to work. Help?
how do you change display from 24 h to 12h
My foxclocks won’t display in 12hr, only 24!
Other than that, thanks, love the convenience it gives me

love foxclocks, just a thought though, i dont use the 9-5 colour changing, would be great if you could have a master colour for all clocks, and the option to change individual clocks if desired.
with fox personas sometimes clocks can not be seen easily pending on clock colour, that is why a master colour option would be great.
keep up the great work :)
Fox Clocks appears to download; however, it does not install. I have not been able to get it installed with firefox browser 3.5.3. This is not the only add-on that downloads, but does not install with 3.5.3. I really liked being able to view the time zone clocks on the browser status bar that also displayed the seconds which is useful when participating on various auction sites. I would appreciate any suggestions as to how to get Fox Clocks back on my status bar with browser 3.5.3. Thanks
It’s a great add-on for Firefox, and very helpful.
There’s a problem, though. Argentina is not going into Daylight Saving Time this year. The president has decided to not do so at the moment and until further notice. For that reason I wanted to disable the daylight saving time for Argentina and I found I couldn’t. It’s confusing me since FoxClocks is now showing a time that is not the correct for this country.
Thanks for providing such a nice addon!
I just noticed one weird detail about the DST Settings in Argentina / Buenos Aires. It seems that they are wrong in the database, but this might simply be due to the fact that they decided this year to change their settings. Found the following information about DST in Argentina: http://www.timeanddate.com/news/time/argentina-dst-2009-2010.html.
If this information is right than FoxClock shows BA time with one hour difference (confirmed this with 2 timezone websites)
I believe I posted this question a long long time ago but it still has not been implemented.
There is no FoxClocks icon/image against the menuitem entry in the Tools menu.
I get around this by placing an entry in the userChrome.css file and an FoxClocks icon/image (16 x 16) in the Chrome folder.
/* Add this menuitem image for FoxClocks Extension in Tools menu. */
menuitem[label="FoxClocks"]
{list-style-image: url(“foxclocks.png”) !important; }
It would be nice to see this implemented to help round out what otherwise is a great extension.
Cheers
First, i want to thank you for making such a great addon. I’m currenly using FoxClocks 2.5.35 and cannot find Frankfurt time in FoxClocks zone picker anymore. Anyone else have the same problem? Please advise.
Hi, could you please check. In Argentina, Buenos Aires, we finally did not apply to the DST, but in you clocks it looks like you have changed the time by 1h.
Thanks!!!
Pablo is absolutely right. Buenos Aires time is wrong (i.e. one hour ahead) in FoxClocks. Thank you for fixing. FoxClocks is a GREAT tool, anyway.
Just wanted to let you know that the change to Summer time that was supposed to take place last Sunday was cancelled, so that the time zone now in Argentina is GMT -2. It would be great if you could update this in your database.
Thank you,
I have enjoyed using your add-on for a long time but currently the time is incorrectly offset to GMT-4 when it should be GMT-5. DST isn’t in effect until this weekend. I have Foxclocks installed on more than one computer and all are currently displaying the incorrect time. I checked the city and country list and all were offset by one time zone.
This is just a suggestion but including a way to select the local time zone by selecting a GMT/UTC offset would be very useful. You have global regions, countries, and cities. Why not a GMT/UTC expandable list?

Hi there,
This year Argentina did not go for Daylight saving (http://www.timeanddate.com/news/time/argentina-dst-2009-2010.html).
Please update the FoxClock database since it is considering DST in Argentina.
Thanks,
Sergio.
Hi. I installed FoxClocks and whenever I put in US Pacific, it shows as Eastern (I live on the East Coast). So Pacific turns out to be 3 hours ahead. I’ve tried fixing it by resetting everything, but it still does it.
HI; Would it possible to get an update for Seamonkey 2.0 (just went out). Tx for all
The time for Buenos Aires is currently incorrect. Argentina did not implement the DST for this year. Kindly fix this.
