FoxClocks 2
FoxClocks 2 is now available for download at addons.mozilla.org. Feature requests, bug reports and general gossip are very welcome in the comments, but if you’re having a problem, please check the FoxClocks FAQ and search the comments below for a solution before posting. Thanks!
Here’s what’s new in FoxClocks 2:
- Keep up-to-date: automatic time zone database updates
- Behind a firewall? update automatically from your LAN
- Choose the right time zone more easily: new Zone Picker
- Show your clocks in the statusbar/toolbar, just in a tooltip (mouseover), or both
- Style your clocks: bold, italic, etc
- Set your clocks to change colour: e.g. make your clocks green from 9 to 5 local time
- Sort your clocks by name or local time
- Move your FoxClocks settings between computers

This is a great extension. Will be perfect if it also included a Calendar. Nothing fancy, just a simple calendar.
I like fox clocks but it is a bit bloated. I wish there were a “lite” version.
Excellent package. Would be nice to have the flags of the US States at first and the possibility to also upload the flags of a Country’s states or provinces using a package or something similar. Many thanks!
In the last version the time zone for my country (Romania) is WRONG. And as such the rest of the clocks are mess up. There really should be a way to set the “default” time zone.
i got the newest foxclock and i love this addon but i dont like this newer one the only thing is that its now blue…. and its SOOO hard to see it on my computer is there a way that i can change this or soming?
I am an amateur radio operator and find Fox Clocks to be very useful for HF communications, especially the GMT/UTC clock.
Thank you for the time and effort you put into making this available to Firefox users.
I really like FoxClocks because I’m a MotoGP fan and use it to keep track of race times at circuits around the world. It’d be even better if I could create entries for the various tracks like Laguna Seca, Sachsenring, Brno &c., by entering their geographic coordinates.
Surely it’s possible?
For some reason foxclocks won’t install :-( Anyone having that problem too? I have FF 3.0.11. Do I need to disable my firewall or so?
Great program, very useful. but in my opinion you’re over doing it a bit with the registration nag screens. Do you really have to put a pop-up and load a web page every single time the browser os opened? At the very least could it be changed to every several loads (5) or at random… I just may go back to a task bar based clock. Would save me the hassle of loading firefox just to check what time it is for a few friends.
excellent only problem is the update page keeps on poping up when ever we open the browser
Lovely program. BUG: When using the display as FoxClocks icon, then the Time format for 24 hours does not show in this format. It constantly shows in 12 hour format.
The clocks have disappeared. What can I do to get them back.
same problem – clocks have disappeared – can’t get them back in the statusbar.
:-)
Now location text is japanese.
But I want to change location text to english.
What should I do?
None of the time zones i entered are correct and there’s no way to correct it
I like the prog.
HOWEVER, why does the “Thank you for Updating” splash screen CONTINUE to appear when I start up my browser?
Awesome! :-)
Works wonders and works well!
I can’t access foxclocks, which has worked brilliantly for a year or more in the US and Korea — and I can’t decide why. I assume it is the latest update to Firefox that is making the installation not work. I have reinstalled more than once, but there are still no clocks anywhere.
I love it! One suggestion for custom time formats – allow users to specify “a” or “p” instead of just “am” or “pm”.
hey guys, i just wanted to know if there is a way to increase the size of the status bar. I have to add a lot of clocks and my status bar is now full. I need to have more status bar…
any ideas? or is this a feature that can be added in in the future?
Does not work with Fire Fox 3.5.2
I LOVE FoxClocks. I tell all of my friends about it. I just downloaded the new version of Firefox (3.5.2) and it doesn’t work any more. AH! Please fix! Thanks!
Help! The tooltips are soooooo annoying but I can’t find a way to turn them off. Please help me, they’re always getting in the way and I have to get rid of them before I bash my head against a brick wall in sheer desperation (OK, slightly over dramatised, but would appreciate some assistance please).
cheers,
Pete
time is not right (one hour ahead)… Help!
Fox Clocks [any version] will not install in Thunderbird 2.0.0.22. It shows “being installed” and asks for a restart but nothing shows up in the status bar or under “Tools”. On checking Add-ons, no installation of Fox Clocks is shown. Never had a issue for versions older than 2.0.0.22 in Thunderbird.
Unfortunately the persistent tooltip is a Firefox bug. The workaround is to make sure that ‘Show clock in statusbar/toolbar tooltip’ (in the Location Properties window) is not ticked. You’ll need to do this for each of your clocks. See
http://www.stemhaus.com/firefox/foxclocks/#LocProp-DispTab
for more information.
FoxClocks showing the wrong time? See this FAQ:
http://www.stemhaus.com/firefox/foxclocks/news/foxclocks-faq/#FAQ-wrongtime
Regarding FoxClocks not installing in Thunderbird 2.0.0.222, it sounds like your Thunderbird ‘profile’ is broken. Unfortunately this does happen from time to time when (any) extension updates. This FAQ might be of some help:
http://www.stemhaus.com/firefox/foxclocks/news/foxclocks-faq/#FAQ-diagnostics
but I’m not optimistic.
Regarding FoxClocks showing in Japanese: FoxClocks actually contains a number of language packs, including English and Japanese. Firefox looks for a FoxClocks language pack to match its own language. You can change which language pack Firefox looks for by modifying the Firefox parameter
general.useragent.locale
in the special URL about:config (see http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config). If you set this to en-US (or en-GB) and restart, FoxClocks should display in US English (or UK English). However, you might find some other extensions switch to English too, and there may be other side-effects. You can always revert the change if it doesn’t suit you.
Andy
please fix this addon. Time is wrong
Foxclocks is a great add on to my mozilla browser. It would be great to include the cities of Makka and Madina (Saudi Arabia) on foxclock as both these cities are prominent to muslims all over the world and prayers from the two holy mosques are followed via live tv by the billions of muslims around the world. It would be great to have quick access to the time at these two cities
why i can not found auckland , new zealand?
A nice customizable extension for Fx.
Would be nice to be able to change the default Time Zone database.
I downloaded world clocks but it does not show up on the status bar or anywhere… it does show that it has been added on …clicking on the bar does not do anything….help
Hi,
from 21 August in Egypt was change the time. Now is UTC +2.
Fix it, pls!
Regards.
Great addon, however it is not working with FF 3.5.2. It does not show up in status bar or in menu after an installation and restart.
Great tool but time is wrong – late 1 hour. What do I need to do to get the correct times? Have updated it to current but still off.
Foxclocks is a great addon, and I’d like to help by making a correction:
The DST in Cairo, Egypt ended earlier than shown in Foxclocks, so the time zone database needs updating. The relevant information may be found here:
http://www.timeanddate.com/news/time/egypt-dst-ends-2009.html
This is a great addon; very useful. Thanks. I’m running Firefox 3.5.2. After installation, the addon does not appear in the list addons list, nor does it appear anywhere else. I have tried several re-installations to no avail.
hi there. This is Raymond from China, Foxclock helps me a lot during my office time. I hope the country codes can also be showed on the clocks in the future~ Thx a lot.
Hey, I’m just now uninstalling foxclocks for one sad reason: every time I open firefox, the foxclocks popup opens for no reason and I have to click OK to make it go away. I’ve gotten annoyed by this for the last time. Great plugin other than that. Will reinstall if the popup ever goes away.
Great application. However, please add San Francisco to the list of cities. Not sure why it has been missed. Thanks.
Foxclock is convenience to check the clock over the world but it is very little cities can be chosen, for instance, Munich Germany.
The easiest to use and most practical of all the international time clocks I have used over the years. Thanks guys, I really appreciate the effort.
This has been the most solid Firefox snap-in all along, in my opinion. I have to keep track of GMT, CET and western Russia (not to mention my own ET)… I love it! – Don’t complicate it with gadgets or calendars… this is GOOD!
You have still not got San Francisco!! For heaven’s sake!!
Great program, keep it as is. Simple without all the fluff that is not needed. If you want to improve it have it bring me a cold beer after work.
Useful and functional. Need to have ToolTip times in 24-hour format but found no way to make that happen.
Please keep all the s-called “fluff”. It is the variety of options to allow users to customize the output which makes it useful. Those who aren’t smart enough to understand this and want it “simple” can simply use the defaults.
Everything looking quite sharp this way.
